Interpreting the Brief
I am making this post to detail my interpretation of the brief we were given to us by Sunderland Culture. I go through some of my initial ideas and thoughts based on the information provided to us within the brief. The brief we were given helped me narrow down the specifics of what I needed to keep in mind regarding the potential target audience, and how best to appeal to the audience while also making sure that I am working to meet the client's needs.
Audience:
The brief we have given states that the primary audience for this project should be people between the ages of sixteen and twenty-five so I must keep this in mind when t comes to creating the documentary/short film and the print pieces for this campaign. Seeing as I have a young audience, I know using brighter colours would be more appealing to them as something eye- usually gages the attention of a younger audience more than if the piece was in all grayscales and has nothing to particularly catch the eye. We have been told to keep in mind that the aim of this piece of work is to engage the younger generation in the work as well as use it to educate them on local talent. This work should be used to develop the city and the citizens' cultural awareness and diversity within Northeast England/Sunderland. We must do this through a short fictional film or documentary lasting approximately ten minutes or a series of at least five digitally manipulated images.
Seeing as I myself am within the age range of the target audience for this project I feel like this gives me an advantage. This is because It meant I have insight into what someone within the age range finds appealing such as what colours appeal to teenagers/young adults, what content would be suitable/interesting, etc. This audience means I am having to appeal to Gen Z and some Millennials.
The brief states that we are to create a product (video and/or print media or a combination of the two) showcasing the North East. We have been given creative freedom for this project, all we have to do is make sure that the piece of work we produce educated the viewer on the city, its diversity, and its cultural awareness.
Client
-Budget could be an issue as I have no money to use to ensure this project is of the best quality. I will have to use equipment I own or borrow some of the colleges.
-Copyright music may also be a problem as I'll have to source or create my own music for the project otherwise, I risk copyright law difficulties.
-Artistic choices clashing with the ideals of the client.
